Useful information

Etudiants au travail
Before Leaving

If you are a student of the European Union or the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and the 27 EU Member States) you need a valid identity card.

As non-European, non EEA student you need a visa.

Centrale Marseille is a member of the “Etudes en France” framework. You have to register on the platform Etudes en France here : https://pastel.diplomatie.gouv.fr/etudesenfrance/dyn/public/authentification/login.html .

In order to get information about the formalities to be completed go to
https://www.campusfrance.org/en/the-different-types-of-visas

In order to get the most precise information about the visa, go to https://france-visas.gouv.fr . You will be able to proceed a request directly from this platform.

As a student coming to Centrale Marseille in the frame of an inter-institutional agreement, you will be delivered a “Visa Long Séjour valant Titre de Séjour – Mention Etudiant”(VLSTS - students). This document as a duration of one year.

This VLS-TS – student enables you to travel all around the Schengen (and once validated, all around the wold), to work for 20 hours a week, to get the accommodation allowance “CAF”.

Accomodation

In order to prepare your arrival in Marseille we encourage you to find a room before your arrival. The first thing to do is to get in touch with the student association International Centrale Marseille (Icm) icm@centrale-marseille.fr or https://www.facebook.com/ICMCentraleMarseille/.

We also recommend to use www.HousingAnywhere.com, a peer-to-peer platform where our outgoing students can rent out their rooms to incoming students. We warn you that it might be difficult to find an affordable accommodation last minute; therefore we encourage you to use this safe platform to book your room before your arrival. As an exchange student your search for housing possibilities in Marseille on this website is for free, just in case of a concrete booking of a room or a flat an administrative charge has to be paid. https://housinganywhere.com/Marseille--France/centrale-marseille/sign-up.

Arriving in France

Validate your visa through https://administration-etrangers-en-france.interieur.gouv.fr within three first months of stay.

You therefore need to have :

  • a valid electronic mail address -
  • information indicated on your visa
  • your date of arrival in France
  • your address in France
  • a credit card to pay the fees (if your card does not work, you can buy an electronic stamp here https://timbres.impots.gouv.fr/index.jsp (Titre pour étrangers) or in a tobacco shop).
